What to Say to Jesus?

Glory be to God and welcome back to the salt and light commission!

I’m pretty active on social media. I used platforms like Facebook to spread the word of God to anyone who might want to hear it.   People that don’t, I imagine simply refuse to read what I wrote.  They simply scroll on by.  We all do it.  I do it multiple times to posts that don’t interest me or doesn’t glorify God in some way.   And I anticipate there are some on my friends list that don’t care to hear about God or any being in control of their lives. Those people should know however, that ignorance to the word is not going to be a good excuse at Judgement day.   But nevertheless, on Facebook I wrote for 30 days being used by God, to post His encouraging words to all who read my posts.  But at the end of the 30 days I wrote one of the most encouraging posts.  And it came in the form of a question.  Today we are going to look at that question and provide the only correct answer that will satisfy.  Let’s jump right in.

BIG QUESTION

If in this very second you died.  No warning, you just dropped dead… you immediately came face to face with Jesus and while you are still awestruck by the beauty and serenity of the scenery, you focus on him and he asked you a question similar to this one, ” Why should I allow you to enter into my heaven?” How would you answer? Would you begin listing all your ‘good’ accomplishments that hopefully outweighs the bad?  Would you say you went to church every week?  Would you wonder if you even deserved to enter?

The bad news is this, no good you do will ever be good enough to enter. Furthermore, none of us deserves to enter. That’s seriously bad news, right?  No one deserves to enter and no matter what good I do it’s nothing but filthy rags in the sight of a Holy and righteous God. But that’s not the end, because there is also the good news. We can enter, but only through grace and mercy.  Grace and Mercy from Jesus Christ.

Maybe you aren’t sure if you would enter in. The good news is you can make sure you got a reserved spot today!! Too good to be true?  It’s true and it’s good!  All you must do is confess that you are a sinner and that you need Him to forgive you for your sins.  Confess that the Lord Jesus is your Lord and Savior and you want to live a life for him and then God’s Spirit enters you and with that you will then become a Child of God.  You are saved.

This is where most “almost Christians” miss out.  They feel a tugging of the Spirit.  They feel a need to be saved, because they want a fresh start, but feel they must clean up their lives first. They say, “let me stop cursing first.  Let me stop sleeping around first.  Let me stop doing drugs first.”  I tell you the truth, confess and TRULY mean it and the Holy Spirit in you will clean up those sinful things.  I’m a witness. Because trust me you can’t stop on your own.  The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.  I tried to stop my sinful ways…time after time I failed…then I tried Jesus…really tried Jesus and now those things don’t interest me anymore.  The man I see now is a totally different man than from years ago.  And I don’t miss him.  Jesus doesn’t miss him either, because of my asking for forgiveness, Jesus doesn’t know that man.  As far as Jesus is concerned, that man never existed.   He only sees me as I am right now, blameless.

And that’s the answer to the question. You are standing in front of Jesus after your body has expired and you are taking in the splendor and the wonder and Jesus asks, “Why should I let you in to my heaven?”   You open your mouth and say, “I have trusted you as my Lord and Savior and I’m a child of the Most High God.”   You don’t have to say those exact words, that is just an example…don’t go trying to memorize that phrase.   But that’s it, don’t go trying to count off how many elderly women you helped cross the street. It’s good, and you should help those in need whenever you can, but a quota is not required to gain access.

Alright, now I want to hear from you. Write in the comments below on what your answer to Jesus would be.  I would love to read them.

Also set me straight if you think I totally missed the mark, I want to hear from you

Also, if you are one of those people that would answer with a list of your “good” deeds and you want to grow closer to God because you just realized your answer is all wrong, I’d love to talk with you and pray with you.

Don’t forget, if you liked this post go by and check out my other blog posts. That’s it for now, see you on the next post and remember, you are the salt and light of the world! Be blessed!
